Thornton Jr. passes 14 cars in Night Before the Jackson at Brownstown

The SSI Motorsports team and Ricky Thornton Jr. returned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Thursday afternoon at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) to compete in the Indiana Icebreaker rescheduled from March 20. On Friday for the Night Before the Jackson, Thornton Jr. came in eighth in his heat before placing ninth in his B-Main. Taking a provisional into the feature, Ricky improved 10 spots in the 40-lapper to place 14th.

For the 42nd annual Jackson 100 on Saturday, Ricky followed up a 10th-place finish in his heat with a fourth-place finish in his B-Main. Starting in 23rd via a provisional, Thornton Jr. climbed as high as sixth but got turned around on lap 86, which resulted in an early exit.

Ricky sits in seventh in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
