Runner-Up in Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Action at Brownstown

Friday night saw Ricky Thornton Jr. make the trip to Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway to compete in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Jackson 100 weekend.

In a field of 60 entries, Ricky qualified third in his group before picking up a heat race win to lock into the $10,000-to-win feature. Starting fifth in the 40-lapper, Thornton advanced three spots to place second behind Josh Richards. Earl Pearson Jr., Jonathan Davenport, and Zack Dohm rounded out the Top-5.

“Congrats to Josh! I had a blast out there. You could move around some out there. We have a good hot-rod for tomorrow. I saw the board with 12 or 13 laps to go and I thought if I am going to get up I had better go now. I was able to get back to them and run Josh down. To race as hard as we did and we never touched once. It’s pretty awesome.”

Returning on Saturday for the 41st Annual Jackson 100, Thornton started his night by qualifying second in his group before picking up another heat race win. Starting the $15,000-to-win finale in third, Ricky faded in the 100 lapper to tenth-place outing.
