BIRDSILL SOARS TO VICTORY IN UMA SPORTSMAN

Brandon Birdsill scored his first feature win in the 2022 season at DRP and picking up the $500 winner’s check from Assembly Products in the Kalahari Resorts and Convention Center 25 lap A-main in the D&C Transportation UMA Sportsman. Dan Frye and Bobby Turzinski Jr. would lead a strong field of UMA Sportsman to the green for their 25 lap main event. Bobby T Jr. would pop out to the early lead as the rest of the field fought hard behind him. David Borntreger and Mark Challet would battle behind the 51 as the laps fell by the wayside. Just after the battle ended between the 9 and 13 the 51 of Turzinski who had not yet been challenged all of a sudden developed a loose condition which allowed the field to close rapidly. The first challenger was Wonder Lake’s Bobby Giers he would almost gain the top spot as the yellow would fly for a spinning Logan Delaney on the front stretch. Brandon Birdsill and Dave Trute would line up to the outside of Turzinski Jr. and Giers after an appearance by the Five Star Concrete and excavating Lane Choice Cone. This would prove to be exactly what Birdsill needed as he would despatch of the 51 and go on to the victory. Birdsill was followed to the line by Dave Trute, Bobby Giers, Bobby Turzinski Jr. and Davis Borntreger. Incoming Inclement weather forced the cancelation of preliminary events. Fast qualifier for the D&C Transportation UMA Sportsman was Dave Trute with a lap of 14.975.
