Stevens a part of three Show-Me 100 weekend feature events
Tyler Stevens of Searcy, Arkansas, proved his mettle over the weekend as he took part in both Show-Me 100 preliminary features and the prestigious 31st annual Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri).
Three consecutive nights of racing co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) and Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) kicked off on Thursday at the 3/8-mile oval. First up, Stevens’ D&D Well Services No. 2 was one of 59 cars entered for the Cowboy Classic.
After finishing fifth in his heat, Stevens used a runner-up finish in his B-Main to transfer to the 45-lap, $6,000-to-win feature. He started 24th and picked up five spots to finish 19th.
With 57 cars entered for Friday’s Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson, Stevens used a sixth-to-third run in his heat to start 13th in the 40-lap A-Main paying $6,000 to the winner. Stevens both started and finished 24th.
Saturday saw the car count reach 60, with all looking to take home the $50,000 top prize in the night’s crown-jewel Show-Me 100.
Non-qualified competitors took part in B-Mains to fill out the field, and Stevens finished eighth in his 15-lap race. However, he used a provisional to make the field and finished 31st after starting 23rd.
After the Lucas Oil Speedway weekend, Stevens is fifth in MLRA points and leads the rookie-of-the-year standings.
