I-80 Nationals and Silver Dollar Nationals bring Cosner to I-80 Speedway

Matt Cosner returned to action on Tuesday afternoon as he made the trek to I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.) to kick off five consecutive nights of racing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS). Drawing 43 cars for the I-80 Nationals prelim, Matt recorded a second-place finish in his heat, sending him into the B-Main. Needing to place third or better to make the feature, Cosner recorded a fifth-place finish.

For another $7,000-to-win preliminary feature on Wednesday with passing points aligning the lineup, Cosner followed up a third-place finish in his heat with a 10-lap consolation victory. Rolling off 19th, Matt gained three spots in the 30-lapper to finish 16th.

With preliminary results from Tuesday and Wednesday setting the grid for the $30,000-to-win I-80 Nationals on Thursday evening, Matt rolled off on the pole of his B-Main for another chance at the show. On Friday for a pair of heat races to get the 11th annual Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals underway, Cosner placed fourth in his first heat before coming in eighth in the second round.

Transferring into the B-Main on Saturday, Matt logged an 11th-place finish, sending him into the Non-Qualifiers feature for one final shot at the $53,000-to-win finale. With the race-winner given the option to pocket $5,300 or tag the tail for the feature, Cosner recorded a seventh-place finish.
