Tony Jackson Jr. double dips with Lucas Oil MLRA

Tony Jackson Jr. continued his recent hot streak with two more Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) victories over the course of the Labor Day weekend.

He collected over $18,000 for his winning performances in his Lebanon Ready Mix No. 56 Willard Quarries / Gorsuch Performance Solutions / Capital Race Car / Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model as his season win total grew to four.

“Man, what a weekend for our team. We got two wins, but honestly had a good chance for three if not for the mechanical issue before the feature at Lakeside (Speedway) on Friday. This new Capital Race Car is just awesome. Thanks to Marshall (Green) and everyone at Capital Race Cars for their great support, and thanks to everybody who supports our program,” Jackson Jr. said. “This week I’m looking forward to turning wrenches for Darrell (Lanigan) at Eldora. He’s been really good at that place throughout his career, and I think these Capital Race Cars will suit his driving style well.”

Kicking off the Labor Day weekend with the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association (MLRA) Tony Jackson Jr. brought his Willard Quarries No. 56 Late Model to Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kan.) on Friday evening for the Clyde Ellis Memorial.

With 21 Late Models entered for the opener of the tripleheader weekend, Jackson Jr. followed up the fastest lap in time trials with an eight-lap heat race victory. His team discovered mechanical issues before the start of the feature that sidelined him for the 30-lapper.

For the Ron Jenkins Memorial on Friday at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.), Tony laid down the fastest lap in qualifying to pocket the $750 fast time award before placing first in his heat.

Nosing ahead of Kolby Vandenbergh for the lead on the 12th circuit of the feature, Jackson Jr. paced the field the remainder of the 40-lapper to capture his third win of the season and a $7,000 prize. He finished 1.535 seconds ahead of Mason Oberkramer with Logan Martin, Chad Simpson, and Payton Looney rounding out the Top-5.

On Sunday at Randolph County Raceway (Moberly, Mo.), Jackson Jr. earned $1,000 for topping the speed charts in time trials but slipped up in his heat to finish third.

Charging from the fifth row in the feature, Tony wrestled away the lead from Billy Moyer Jr. with three laps remaining and went on to pick up his second win of the weekend and 15th-career Lucas Oil MLRA triumph. The $10,000 payday elevated his weekend earnings over $18,750 after bagging three fast time honors.

Tony will not be racing this week, but rather will be turning wrenches for Darrell Lanigan, who will be piloting one of the Tony Jackson Jr. Racing Capital Race Cars at the 52nd annual World 100.

Lanigan had planned to debut the car in Sunday night’s Baltes Classic, but Mother Nature washed that event away.

This week action roars to life on Thursday and Friday with twin $12,000-to-win programs followed by the $55,000-to-win finale on Saturday night.

For anyone unable to attend, every lap of every event will be broadcast live at www.FloRacing.com and full event details can be found at www.EldoraSpeedway.com .
