13th-place finish in Cowboy Classic at Wheatland

With Mother Nature shifting Thursday’s opener to Friday afternoon, Tony Jackson Jr. lifted the lid on his Memorial Day weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) on Friday for the Cowboy Classic. Drawing 58 Late Models for the event co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) and the Lucas Oil MLRA, Jackson Jr. followed up the third fastest time in his group with a runner-up finish in his heat behind Bobby Pierce. Later Friday evening for the Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson, Tony posted a second-place finish in his heat, which positioned him 11th on the starting grid for the A-Main. With $6,000 on the line, Jackson Jr. slipped back to a 22nd-place outing.

Transferring into a B-Main on Saturday afternoon for one final shot at the $30,000-to-win Show-Me 100, Jackson Jr. secured his spot into the finale with a second-place finish behind Jonathan Davenport. Rolling off 22nd, Tony Jackson Jr. improved five spots in the 100-lapper to come home 17th.
