Jegtvig Gets Win by 0.011 at NCR

ADA, Minn. (June 15, 2017) – A solid field of 50 race teams were checked in Thursday night at Norman County Raceway as Ag Country Farm Credit Services and Seedex presented the night’s races.

In one of the most exciting finishes of the season, Vince Jegtvig topped Jesse Skalicky by the narrowest of margins in the Titan Machinery IMCA SportMod feature. Jegtvig led on the opening lap over Skalicky, Aaron Wetterlin, and Andy Wagner. Just as they have the previous two weeks, Skalicky, Wetterlin, and Wagner all battled for position, but this time it was for second instead of the lead.

On the final lap, Wetterlin peeked underneath Jegtvig. Wetterlin was only able to drive alongside his rear quarter panel as Jegtvig held the advantage heading into the final set of corners. Coincidentally, both Jegtvig and Wetterlin drifted up the race track exiting turn four, which allowed Skalicky an opportunity to steal the win coming to the checkers.

Skalicky and Jegtvig drag-raced to the Frandsen Bank & Truck flagstand, where Jegtvig edged out Skalicky by 0.011 seconds.

Wetterlin, Wagner, and Kelly Jacobson rounded out the top five.

Cale Arneson picked up his first career NCR Sanders Metal Products IMCA Modified feature win over a stout field of drivers. The Fargo driver took the top spot on lap three as Brady Petermann suddenly slowed while leading as mechanical issues forced him pit side.

Once out front, Arneson paced the field with little challenge as he cruised to KRJB 106.5FM Victory Lane. Lucas Rodin, Dave Shipley, Jamie Trautner, and Tyler Hall rounded out the top five.

Nick Nelson also picked up his first career win. Nelson led every lap of the Christian Brothers Ford IMCA Hobby Stock feature to pick up the win over Tim Shiek and Brandon Schmidt.

It took Matt Schow several years to record his first Christian Motors Midwest Modified feature win at NCR. A week after getting that first elusive victory, the McIntosh driver went back to back as he topped the 16-car field.

Schow took the lead from his outside front row starting position before checking out from the field. Schow led every lap and picked up the win by a whopping five seconds over Brock Gronwold.

With the win, Schow has punched a ticket into the AFCO Race of Champions at the WISSOTA 100 at Dakota State Fair Speedway in September.

Aaron Olson continued his dominance in the Norman County Implement IMCA Stock Cars. Olson led every lap of the feature en route to his fifth win of the season in as many races.

Next week, NCR will be hosting two nights of racing beginning Wednesday night. For just $5, fans can watch IMCA Stock Cars, INEX Legends, and NLSA Lightning Sprints. On Thursday, the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA 410 Winged Sprint Cars make their annual visit to NCR. They will be joined by IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Stock Cars.
