When it comes to household names in the region of Dirt Track Racing, Austin Hunter usually comes to mind in the conversation. With over 100 career wins, multiple track and state championships, and finishing in the top ten of WISSOTA National Points several times in the span of just eleven (11) years in the class it is no wonder he is top of mind.

In fact, Hunter won the very first WISSOTA Midwest Modified race at Lake of the Woods Speedway in August of 2018, and is currently in second for most feature wins at the track. He has also shared the Dinner Jacket Classic Series Championship alongside Cole Chernosky in 2021.

His sponsors include Keewatin Truck Service, E-One Fire Trucks, Red Dot Corp., Millennium Chassis / SRT Specialties Innovative Auto & Diesel, Vertical Adventures, Diesel Spec, K&A Flatworks, Border Real Estate Ltd.

His pit crew include his Dad, Mom, RJ, and Daniel.

When Hunter was in Kindergarten, his father started competing in the Winnipeg Super Trucks. I started off my career in road course Go-Karts and eventually did a handful of races and practice days in the Super Truck before moving into the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds in 2012 in order to have more travel options.

When it comes to the upcoming season, Hunter is going to try to make it to some of the bigger events around the region,

“I don’t really have a plan to concentrate of points and just race as many 2-day and higher paying specials as possible. Hoping to attend the Dinner Jacket Classic Series in Kenora again as well as the Rebel Tour Races.”

Promoter’s Thoughts – “You can almost guarantee that Austin Hunter will be at the front every time he runs at Lake of the Woods Speedway. After a tight runner up finish in the Bruce Krawicki Memorial Race last year, expect Hunter to get some redemption at the Dinner Jacket Classic Series.”

Looking forward to having you here, Austin!
