Hellman Finds Victory Lane at Home Track
When the green flag waved in the WISSOTA Street Stock feature, Geoff Hellman and Jonny Carter battled for the lead. They raced side by side for several laps until a caution on lap five regrouped the field. On the restart, Carter pulled away as Zach Frederick challenged Hellman for second. A series of mid-race cautions slowed the pace but on the final restart with seven laps to go, Hellman dove low under Carter and slid up to take the lead. Carter was all over Hellman’s rear bumper but Hellman held strong. With three laps to go, Hellman got loose out of turn two allowing Carter to pull along side Hellman into three and four. Hellman shut the door and they continued to battle hard for the win. As they came to the checkered flag, they made contact going into turn three, sending Hellman spinning in front of the field. Track officials called the caution on Carter, declaring Hellman the feature winner. The feature victory was Geoff Hellman’s first victory at Dacotah Speedway since 2013. John Feist finished a season best of second place. Matt Dosch finished third while Kelly Hoerner finished fourth ahead of Hunter Domagala.
