Double Duty weekend at Talladega Short Track for Red Farmer Tribute
Taking part in a busy weekend Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.), Austin Horton piloted both his No. 16 Super Late Model and the Brandon Duke-owned No. 01 with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series and Crate Racin' USA .
Among 42 Super Late Models, Horton nabbed the final transfer spot in his heat race but was an early retiree in the 38-lap feature and was scored 23rd.
Topping the charts in his CRUSA qualifying group, Austin rolled off from the pole in the $3,700-to-win event and wound up third when the checkered flag flew. He rounded out the Top-3 while trailing Cory Hedgecock and Tyler Millwood.
Landing a much better outing in Saturday's $9,700-to-win HTF show, Austin laid down the fastest lap in his group and finished runner-up in his heat. For the 40-lap main event, Horton ran inside the Top-10 to score a seventh-place outing.
Rolling off 13th in the CRUSA main event, Horton slowly moved his way forward in the extended 60-lap feature to finish sixth.
