Delta Ut , June 16th, 2018 Father’s Day weekend featured some heavy hitting racing action at Millard County Raceway with the Hunter Machine Stock Car Shoot-Out. Drivers from four states and 32 cars attended to compete for thousands of dollars in prize money.

17 IMCA Stock Cars arrived to test their dirt track skills for $3200 in payouts over the course of the two-day racing event which was sponsored by Hunter Machine from West Valley, Ut., and Millard County Raceway. Brad Ostler, driver of the #23 Stock Car, took home Friday night’s feature win. Ed Henderson, driver of the #21 Stock Car, took the big money race of $1000 to win on Saturday. Both drivers are from Utah and have spent many weekends racing at MCR.

Saturday night’s Hobby Stock main event was nothing less than a heart pounder when the local driver of the #11, Marv Kessler from Fillmore, Ut., flipped going down the backstretch. After skidding down the straight for several feet on the hood, his car rolled back over landing rubber side down. Track officials and safety crews took immediate action to ensure Marv’s safety. Once out of the car Marv gave the arms up signal to let spectators know he was ok and was responded to with some of the loudest cheers heard at MCR. A roll-over fund was immediately initiated by James (Jimmy) Turnbull from Aztec, NM. Jimmy was attending the races as part of his son’s (Josh Turnbull, #83x Hobby Stock) pit crew and had never met Marv prior to Saturday night’s race. The announcer’s booth stayed busy all evening accepting donations for Marv and his #11 Hobby Stock.

The races were audio streamed live Saturday night featured listeners from across the U.S., Australia, Germany, Sweden, Brazil, Japan, Jamaica, Mexico, Italy, Turkey, South Africa, Canada, New Zealand, and Poland.

It was another great weekend of dirt track racing, camaraderie, and family fun at Millard County Raceway. The next race weekend at MCR will be August 3rd and 4th. IMCA Hobby Stocks, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods, and IMCA Modifieds racing. SportMods will be the big show for the weekend.
