American All-Star Series
Justin Williams Hold Off All Charges, Working Lapped Traffic Perfectly
The Prelude to the Fall Classic was a picture perfect evening for racing action at Natural Bridge Speedway in the second AAS Bonus Race of the season! Thirty-one of America's Best Pro Late Model Racers signed into battle it out for the $3,000 payday!
Justin Williams picked up right where he left off the last time the series left the track in BHR Fabrication Qualifying with a time of 16.248, with ProFabrication sweetening the pot and adding a $500 bonus to fast time, Justin would collect $600 just for fast time. Samuel Bryant was just behind in second with a time of 16.253 while Travis Steele crossed the line third fast with a time of 16.324. David Watts turned a lap time of 16.367 for fourth while Hayden Cardwell brought the #07 across the line fifth fastest at a 16.376.
Justin would continue rolling in the ATC Bolts & Fasteners Dash as he would grab the victory there over Samuel Bryant and Travis Steele. Logan Roberson would grab the victory in Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet Heat 1 over Bobby Thompson and Corey Almond while Shawn Walker would also transfer. Outside Groove Heat 2 would go to Ryan Smith over Jack Brown, Ronnie Martin Jr., and AJ Hicks would grab the last transfer spot. PPM Racing Products Heat 3 would be won by Braeson Fulton over Chris Barger and Baillie Lowe with Joshua Chesney also transferring. The Dirt Rich TV B-Main would go to Ryan Adams with BJ Mongold, Ronnie Sissney, and Joey Love taking the final transfer spots.
The field was set for the forty lap shootout! The only caution of the night would fly for Logan Roberson when he lost a tire and went out of the park, but he would manage to return to the pits and get his tire changed and rejoin the field. Before the first caution Justin Williams put on a clinic in lapped traffic, lapping up to Joey Love, who would then put on a show after the restart. On the restart Williams took off a again with Bryant in hot pursuit. Bryant would run Williams down a couple times in lapped traffic, but it was to no avail, just when he'd catch Williams, Williams would make a masterful move to get through lapped traffic. All this time Joey Love who was lapped earlier moved to the middle group and made it work passing cars quickly and never getting lapped again. As the leaders took the white flag, David Watts would lose a tire and slide out of the track. With the white flag already out, the leaders would race back to the checker flag. Justin Williams would make it two in a row at NBS with the series picking up the $3,000 payday. Samuel Bryant would have a career best series night taking second while Hayden Cardwell would do what he needed, with the bonus races now calculated to be tied with the points lead by finishing third. Travis Steele would have a strong night taking fourth while Walker Arthur would round out the top five. Bobby Thompson had a career best night with the series taking sixth while Jack Brown would cross the line seventh. Logan Roberson would rebound to eighth after the flat tire with Baillie Lowe and Ryan Smith rounding out the top ten.
The AAS would like to thank Amanda and all the track staff, fans, and drivers at NBS for their support! We'd like to give a special shout-out to longtime series sponsor ProFabrication for title sponsoring the event.
