Ferguson scores podium finish in Prairie Dirt Classic prelim at FALS
Competing in one of his favorite events of the year, Chris Ferguson made the trek to Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) to kick off the 33rd annual Prairie Dirt Classic weekend with Friday’s preliminary features.
Drawing 63 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series entries, Ferguson’s 10th-fastest lap in his time trial group placed him on the third row for his prelim. Chasing a $5,000 prize, Chris inched forward two spots to register a third-place finish. He followed Ricky Thornton Jr. and Hudson O’Neal across the line in the 25-lap affair.
With Friday’s finish in his preliminary feature locking him into the 12th-starting position for Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win Prairie Dirt Classic, Chris showed speed early as he ran high as seventh but fought an ill-handling car to a 15th-place finish after fading in the second half of the 100-lapper.
