Charging Ferguson races to fourth-place finish in Show-Me 100 finale
Looking to defend his victory in the 30th annual Show-Me 100, Chris Ferguson invaded Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) to kick off the 31st running of the event with Thursday’s Cowboy Classic.
In a field of 59 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries, Ferguson got off to a slow start in time trials before placing seventh in his heat, relegating him into a B-Main. Needing to place second or better to make Thursday’s preliminary feature, Chris logged a seventh-place outing.
For another $6,000-to-win preliminary night on Friday, Chris followed up the seventh-fastest lap in his 29-car group with a second-place finish in his heat. Inching forward one spot in the 40-lap feature, Ferguson held onto a sixth-place finish after losing power steering in the final 10 circuits.
With preliminary point standings placing Ferguson on the eighth row for Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win Show-Me 100 finale, Chris advanced through the field 12 spots in the 100-lap affair to register a fourth-place finish. He trailed Devin Moran, Tim McCreadie, and Spencer Hughes to the checkers with Ricky Thornton Jr. finishing fifth.
