Sam Seawright
Drama unfolds in Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series stop at Senoia Raceway
Losing the original date of the event to Mother Nature, Sam Seawright returned to Senoia (Ga.) Raceway with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series on Saturday afternoon for the rescheduled $15,000-to-win Independence Shootout.
Clocking in third-quickest in his qualifying group, Seawright grabbed the victory in his heat race and redrew the pole for the A-Main. Just after his heat, a heavy rain storm engulfed the racetrack and postponed the remainder of the event to Sunday afternoon. Leading the first 30 laps of the feature, Sam gave up the lead to Shane Clanton before another competitor made contact with him during caution. On an ensuing restart, Seawright was involved in another incident that sent him to the tail. Sam ended up with a 15th-place finish.
Seawright still sits runner-up in the HTSDS point standings.
