Great Finish For Lauren Butler

Wow everyone Jennerstown Speedway this past Saturday night was great!!! We took Medusa up to see if we couldnt finally finish a race after our few first attempts. She was great in practice, just a little tight in the center off. This super cup cars are naturally tight cars being they run truck arms instead of trailing arms. So we made a few small adjustments which helped but it was still tight center off but getting in she was great!! We went for qualifying and I qualified 10th. Which again for being so underpowered is really great. First 50 lapper, car was real good off the starts. Then I started having issues with getting the car into 4th gear. Still dont quite know what happened. So we continued and I was up to 6th working on the 18 of Jeff Z,and then coming off 4 Medusa just lost power and I had no throttle but car was still running. So we made 27laps in the first feature and finished 12th. Justin and crew chief Eddie worked feverishly on the car to figure out what happened. We charged the battery up and got her running for 2nd 50 lapper. We decided to not run any of the fans and get push started to try and not drain the battery. I started the 2nd feature in 10th and man did the car feel great!!! We had a great start and made some passes. I was up to 5th place when I went a lap down at lap 38 when the 80 and 75 passed me. So my game plan changed and I decided I was gonna try and hang with them and try to get my lap back. I was somehow able to hang right with them and was gaining on them going into the turns but they would pull me off. Then the 75s rf tire blew which unfortunately ended his night. We had about a 20min red flag for clean up which was good for my tires to cool. So then on that next restart with 7 to go I was told I earned the lucky dog and got my lap back!!!! So I just gave it all I had and brought her home in 5th place and in one piece!!! It was way better then how I expected my night to go so everyone were happy campers. Moving forward we will be back at Jennerstown on September15th with Medusa and maybe Nikita. We will also be going back to Dominion Speedway September 29th with Medusa.
