Missouri Nationals To Schudy: Championship To Burks: In MWRA Go At US36

Osborn, Missouri: Saturday night at US 36 Raceway, Kory Schudy would storm to his fourth victory with the Wholesale Batteries USAC MWRA Sprints in 2023 driving the Jon Sawyer Racing (JSR) 28. While Wyatt Burks would complete his “Road To The Championship” with his 3rd title in the last 4 seasons with this USAC series after finishing on the podium in third for the 12th time in 17 feature events this year.

At the Northwest Missouri Speed Plant it was night number two of the Missouri Nationals and the final race of the season for the MWRA after starting the 2023 campaign on April 21st.

On this evening, Battlefield, Missouri’s, Schudy, was not to be denied after finishing a close second in his last two races at US 36, including Friday night’s preliminary round as he would lead from start to finish after starting on the pole. Meanwhile, the previous nights winner, Wesley Smith of (Nixa, Mo), Smith 33, would put on a charge running from 10th to 2nd place advancing 10 spots. While (Topeka, Ks) Burks, fought his way to third place from his 8th starting spot running the WBR 11, followed by (Red Oak, Ia) chauffeur Josh Most, Germar 93, in fourth, and Chris Parkinson (Gladstone, Mo) taking fifth spot driving the CPR 65.

Zach Clark would finish off his MWRA campaign coming home in sixth in the ZCR 26, and Luke Howard raced to a seventh place result in the LHR 2H. With Jack Wagner driving the Max Grogan 66m to eighth after coming from the semi feature. While Xavier Doney, Doney & Lawson 74, would jump into his sister Natalie’s 305 sprint car after her feature was completed. And after much thrashing, converted the winged machine into a non winged racer to run ninth, finishing in front of tenth running Buddy Parker, Weld & Junior Parkinson 93.

Earlier in the semi, Chris Desselle would take the win in his number 1, followed by Wagner, Lance Silvers in third, and Tyler Burton, fourth. While special awards on this night, courtesy of Xtreme Color, went to Dakota Earls taking the (Hard Luck Award) after flipping in the feature running in sixth (he was okay).
