Contact and a blown tire end Mandy Chick’s day at Talladega

Coming off a top-5 finish in the season-opening ARCA Menards Series race at Daytona in February, Mandy Chick made her second ARCA appearance of the season in Saturday’s General Tire 200 at the 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway (Lincoln, Alabama).

Chick qualified her No. 74 Rose Hulman Institute of Technology Chevrolet in the 27th position and began to climb through the field at the drop of the green flag for the 76-lap contest. However, during the race's first restart on Lap 24, the De Soto, Kansas, driver received heavy right-side contact during a melee involving several cars.

Chick’s team worked valiantly to make repairs and keep her in the running, but her right-front tire ultimately blew under caution near the race's halfway point, causing major damage and stranding the driver on the backstretch.

As a result, Chick was relegated to a 24th-place finish out of 34 entrants.
