Elvis Rankin Named 2018 USAC Western Midgets Rookie of the Year
(Las Vegas NV-February 17, 2019) Elvis Rankin, the Evergreen Colorado race car driver, was named the 2018 USAC Western Midgets Rookie of the Year at a banquet hosted by the United States Auto Club in Las Vegas on Saturday. During 2018, Elvis competed in both pavement and dirt races in the USAC midget series racing in California and Nevada. With his feature win in September, Elvis became the youngest feature winner in USAC history. Beyond his feature win, Elvis consistently ran in the top 5 during the series.
In speaking about the award, Elvis noted “I really appreciate the support from friends, sponsors and fans. I could not have accomplished the results I had without the great work and direction from my crew chief John Lomier. John gave me consistently fast cars and provided a lot of coaching and guidance as I made the transition into bigger cars.”
