Inside Line Promotions – LONGDALE, Okla. (July 13, 2017) – Longdale Speedway is set to continue its season of exciting racing action on July 22 following a two-week break.

After being hampered by weather throughout the first part of the year, Longdale Speedway General Manager Greg Burgess is looking forward to more favorable conditions when the season resumes.

“We’ve struggled a lot with rain so far,” he said. “I think we’ve lost about six nights of racing due to the weather. But we’re hoping it will stay away now that we’re well into the summer. We’ve had great racing when we’ve managed to race and we’re looking forward to more of that.

“We’re glad we were able to give some of our drivers a bit of a break, while others were able to race some special events like the Dakota Tour. But now were ready to host more great racing here.”

The next night of racing on July 22 will be a special treat for fans as admission will be only $5 for adults to watch a full night of competition featuring IMCA modifieds, IMCA sport mods, IMCA stock cars and pure stocks. Children ages 12 and under get in free.

“This is something we wanted to do to reward our fans,” Burgess said. “It’s a great, economical way for them to spend a Saturday night with their families.”

Close point races are developing in each of the four classes as the drivers battle for the honor of being track champion.

Cole Traugott of Woodward has the most feature wins of any driver at the track during regular nights of racing. However, his six victories only have him 10 points ahead of Hunter McDonald of Oakwood in the modifieds championship standings. Travis Baird of Sharon leads Landon Maddox of Fairview by six markers in the stock cars while Mike Roach of Woodward has a nine-point advantage over Joe Adams of Drummond in the sport mods standings. The pure stocks are paced by a pair of Hennessey drivers with Tyler Scruggs maintaining a seven-point margin over Brian Byrd.

Other special events that remain on the schedule include sprint cars on Aug. 26, the season championship on Sept. 16, the Darren Ernst Memorial on Sept. 29-30 and the Iron Man Winter Nationals – Top Gun Championship on Oct. 13-14.
