Ramirez records fourth-place finish at Vado Speedway Park
Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.) was the site of Dereck Ramirez’s season opener as he invaded the pristine 3/8-mile oval on Saturday afternoon for the 18th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout opener.
A ninth-place result in his heat relegated him into the B-Main but Ramirez revived his path into the opener with a 16th-to-4th run in his consolation race. Losing one spot in the 25-lap feature, Dereck recorded a 24th-place outing.
On Sunday, Dereck’s sixth-to-second showing in his heat positioned him on the second row for the $2,000-to-win A-Main. Steering to a consistent fourth-place finish, Ramirez chased Cade Dillard, Rodney Sanders, and Gary Christian to the checkers with Dan Ebert coming in fifth.
