Seventh-place finish in Labor Day Duel at Deer Creek Speedway
On Saturday afternoon Dereck Ramirez was one of 37 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries on hand at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.) for the Labor Day Duel. Coming in second in his heat behind David Baxter, Ramirez locked into the seventh-starting position for the opening night feature. With $3,000 on the line, Dereck held his spot for all 40 laps to place seventh.
The following night at Fayette County Speedway (West Union, Iowa) for the War in West Union, Dereck posted a third place finish in his heat, which positioned him ninth on the starting grid for the $2,500-to-win finale. Unable to gain any ground in the 40-lap affair, Ramirez posted a ninth place outing.
Dereck remains in second in the latest USMTS point standings.
