Sprint Cars of New England
Double Features at Legion Recap
Wentworth, NH - Friday night saw The JRC Transportation Sprint Cars of New England roll into Legion Speedway for what would be a great night of racing. With the June 3rd rain out race being made up it was two twenty five lap features on tap. With some driver changes and absent cars from the first race it was a different lineup than original from June 3rd. Matt Hoyt started on the pole along side of Clay Dow. Hoyt got the lead at the start with Dow right there for the first five laps. The caution waived on lap five for mechanical trouble for Tunk Berry. On the restart Caleb Lamson would get the jump on Dow and grab the second spot. They would stay that way until lap 23 when the caution flew for young Kadyn Berry as he lost his left rear wheel. During that caution Dow pulled his car into the infield with an issue. It would be a green white checkered finish in which Matt Hoyt would cruise to victory , followed by Lamson and *Will Hull credited with third. This would be the second win at Legion Speedway for Hoyt in 2022.
- Chris Donnelly crossed the finish line in third , but he was not at the track on June 3rd to race in the heat races , but the series always lets drivers compete on make up events and score them differently. There were a few changes in the lineup and finish of actual on track racing.
The July 29 race was run as a regular SCoNE event with two eight lap heat races and a 25 lap feature. The FK Rod ends Heat race #1 was won by Caleb Lamson. The O'reilly Auto Parts heat race #2 was won by Jim Lowery driving the Bruce Clattenburg number 8. After the lineups were put together and the invert pulled it was Luke Greenwood starting on the pole with Kadyn Berry along side. Greenwood would get the lead coming to the green as Will Hull got by Berry for second. On lap Chris Donnelly would get the third spot from Berry. As this happened the 68 of Lamson stopped on the track with a mechanical issue. On the restart Greenwood would be up front on the Delaware double file restart. As the field was rolling in turn three to go green the following lap Greenwood jumped at the cone and then let off as the field piled up behind him. Once the cars were sorted out it was the 8 of Jim Lowery with the most damage and could not continue. Greenwood would then lead the rest of the race after another restart and take the win , followed by Chris Donnelly , and Will Hull . Matt Hoyt and Clay Dow would be your top five .
Drivers and teams are beginning to like the new changes being made at Legion Speedway and hope the track continues its progress. Dan Bowne is in charge of the racing surface and doing a great job as the drivers all thanked him for his dedication during the on track interviews.
SCoNE would like to thank its partners who make the series continue.
