Top-10 finish in SAS opener at Smoky Mountain Speedway
Taking part in the Southern All Star Series doubleheader, Jake Knowles traveled to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) on Friday night for the King of the Mountain Championship. In a field of 34 cars, Knowles followed up the eighth fastest time in his qualifying group with a runner-up finish in his B-Main behind Sam Seawright. Starting the $3,000-to-win A-Main in 13th, Jake clawed forward three spots in the 30-lapper to place 10th. (Michael Moats photo)
On Saturday afternoon for the $7,000-to-win finale, Jake came in fifth in his heat, transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main. Locking in the Top 6 into show, Knowles suffered mechanical issues in his right front that sent him slamming into the wall. He was able to walk away uninjured.
