Wissota Late Model Challenge Series
Grand Rapids And Hibbing Up Next As Shaw Trucking Series Heads Into Final Weekend
This week the Shaw Trucking WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series returns to action as the series heads to northern Minnesota for a trio of events.
Friday September 1st, Grand Rapids Speedway will add the Shaw Trucking Series to the annual WISSOTA Classic for a $2,000 to win event. The WISSOTA Late Models will join the WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, and Pure Stocks.
The Shaw Trucking Challenge Series has been to Grand Rapids Speedway in the past as Jeff Provinzino claimed the win at both the 2011 and 2012 events. The Series has never been part of the WISSOTA Classic, however it should be a great fit with the Silver 1000 the night before in Proctor, MN and the Labor Day Shootout at the Hibbing Raceway all of which offer a very nice payout for the Late Model division.
Racing at Grand Rapids Speedway begins at 6:30 pm with draw cutoff at 6:15 pm. Pit Gate opens at 4 pm and Grandstand at 5 pm.

Saturday September 2nd and Sunday September 3rd is the Labor Day Shootout at the Hibbing Raceway. Located in Hibbing MN, the raceway will offer two complete shows that pay $3,000 to win each night. Sunday nights program will include the crowning of the 2017 Shaw Trucking WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series Champion who will take home a big $10,000 check!
Current Series points have John Kaanta of Elk Mound, WI on top with Jake Redetzke, Jeff Wildung, Steve Laursen, and Rick Hanestad all within reach of the top prize with only 37 points separating the top 5 positions.
The Pit Gate is scheduled to open at noon with the grandstand opening at 1 pm. Draw cut off will be 3:30 with Racing at 5 pm.
