Mike Benedum Dominant in Mega 100 Weekend Opener at Tyler County Speedway

Friday night found Mike Benedum in action at Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, West Virginia) kicking off the 4th annual Mega 100 weekend. With 28 Zimmer’s United Late Model Series entries on hand, Benedum locked his spot into main event with a heat race victory. Receiving the pole position after the redraw, Mike jumped out to a lead early and held the top spot comfortably until lap-traffic started to become a factor late. Holding off Jared Miley in the closing laps, Benedum led flag-to-flag to capture his first win of the season and a $7,000 payday. Miley, Corey Conley, Tyler Carpenter, and Max Blair completed the Top-5 finishers in the 50-lap affair. (Zach Yost photo)

The following night Mike traveled to Portsmouth Raceway Park (Portsmouth, Ohio) for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned Independence 50. In a field of 38 cars, Benedum suffered a broken lift-bar in his heat race that ended his night early in the 10-lapper and prevented him from making it for his consolation event.
