Mitchell continues season with CCSDS at Old No. 1 Speedway
On Friday evening, Jon Mitchell and his Team 5 Enterprise crew visited Old No. 1 Speedway (Harrisburg, Arkansas) to compete for a $5,000 first-place prize with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS).
With a stout collection of 38 Dirt Late Models on hand, Mitchell timed his Healthcare Express No. 5 machine ninth-quickest in his qualifying group. He was unable to secure a position in the feature event through his heat race, but nabbed the third and final transfer spot in his B-Main.
That put the Texarkana, Texas, driver 21st on the grid for the 40-lap main event. Mitchell, the 2012 CCSDS champion, gained 10 positions on the quarter-mile, semi-banked oval to finish just outside the top-10 in the 11th position.
Saturday’s scheduled CCSDS event at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas, was canceled due to rain.
