Austin Theiss begins 2021 season with Wild West Shootout

Getting an early start to the 2021 season, Austin Theiss invaded FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Ariz.) on Saturday afternoon for the 15th annual Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout. With a stout field of 57 Late Models converged in the pit area for the first round of six, Austin fell short of a transfer position in his heat with a ninth place finish, sending him into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature. Locking the Top 3 into the show, Theiss faded back to a 17th-place outing.

For another $5,000-to-win preliminary feature on Sunday, Theiss came in seventh in his heat race, giving him one last shot at the A-Main with a B-Main appearance. Needing to place third or better, Austin fell short with a ninth-place finish.
