It was another red-hot summer night in Park City at 81 Speedway, with 75 cars signing in to battle it out for Saturday night glory.

In Alternative Pest Management USRA Modified action, point leader Cole Traugott wired the field collecting his second win in a row. At the drop of the green Traugott immediately jumped out to a five-car length lead while Kevin Kemp and Kenny Sweet battled hard for the runner up spot. Just behind them Tad Davis and USMTS regular Tyler Davis argued over fourth and fifth.

Multiple cautions throughout the first half of the race allowed plenty of opportunity for positions to change at the front of the field. The race’s final restart saw both Tyler and Tad share the first double file row right behind Traugott. Tyler got the best of Tad and went to work chasing down Traugott for the lead. A one car length lead is as close as Tyler Davis would get before fading late, Tad Davis making a late run to challenge for the runner up spot.

At the checker Traugott, Tyler Davis, Tad Davis, Brendon Gemmill and Kevin Kemp were the top-five finishers, while Traugott, Daniel Richey, and Brendon Gemmill claimed heat race wins.

Much was the same for the Two-M Motorsports and Machine Rookie Modified division, as Dakota Dale took over the lead on lap 4 and never looked back, streaking under the checkers after a green-white-checker finish to his second triumph on the year.

Celebrating his birthday on the weekend, Brett Davis hounded the No. 37d machine all race long to no avail, settling for the runner up spot when the checker waved. Chevy Coleman, Dillon Moler, and John Cohoon completed the top five while Dale, Davis, and Jim Roney picked off heat race wins.

An interesting night unfolded for the HeyGlassman.com Stock Cars when a battle of attrition gave way to the night’s closest and most exciting finish. Point leader Clint Smith grabbed the early lead away from Chris Holle but was hounded all race long by multiple drivers. Chris Holle spent much of the race trying to find his way back by the No. 12 machine. Late in the going Joey Richmond changed his line at the exit of turns two and four, finding the speed needed to claim the runner up spot and take his shot at leader Smith.

A late green-white-checker restart set up a heated battle over the top three spots. Both Richmond and the No. 67 of Austin Ramey raced door to door right on the leaders bumper. Multiple points of contact throughout the last couple of laps allowed Smith to pull away to a slight advantage at the checker, but it was the race for second that was too close to call at the line. Speedway timing and scoring systems showed Joey Richmond edging out Ramey for the runner up spot by .016 seconds at the stripe. Fourth went to AJ Finch, and Scott Lehman completed the top 5 with Finch and Holle claiming heat race wins.

The Primal Beef Jerky Mini Stocks completed their fourth event of the year and it was Aaron Esparza who continued his hot streak. Esparza picked up his third win in a row behind the wheel of his No. 1, racing to the checkers ahead of Korey Bice, Jayce Reimer, Skylin Sartain and Addison Petty. Bice and Esparza picked up both heat race wins earlier in the night.

Next Saturday it’s a night of wing sprint car racing as 81 Speedway plays host to the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region 360 c.i. sprint cars, the Drive to Zero URSS 305 c.i. sprint cars, while the HeyGlassman.com Stock Cars also join the card.
