Henderson scores 10th place finish in Late Model Championship opener at Volunteer Speedway

On Friday evening Matt Henderson was one of 73 American Crate All-Star Series entries on hand at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) for the two-day Crate Late Model National Championship. Following the 11th fastest time in his qualifying group, Matt scored a runner-up finish in his heat behind Aaron Guinn, which positioned him ninth on the starting grid for the opening night feature. The following night, Henderson laid down the second fastest time in his qualifying group behind Ricky Weiss before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. Starting the $15,000-to-win Crate Late Model National Championship in third, Matt suffered mechanical issues in the latter half the 100-lapper that dropped him back to 11th when the checkered flag flew.
