Inside Line Promotions – KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 17, 2022) – Garet Williamson opened eyes last weekend during a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader in the Midwest.

The Bryant Paver Motorsports driver recorded his first career heat race win with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ and was set to start in the top 10 of the Lakeside Speedway Showdown presented by Micro-Lite feature on Saturday at Lakeside Speedway when a driveline problem ended the night early.

“I think it was a really good weekend of learning a lot with the 410 and finding good speed that we hadn’t really had with it,” he said. “Saturday didn’t end how we wanted it to, but you have to take the positives out of it.”

Williamson opened Saturday’s event by qualifying a career-best sixth to garner a front row starting spot in a heat race. He rocketed to the lead from the outside of the front row and led the distance, earning not only his first heat race triumph with the series but also his first appearance in a World of Outlaws dash. A seventh-place result in the dash lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the feature.

“We qualified really well and got a heat race win to make the dash,” he said. “That was big for us and something that’s been a goal. We put it all together for most of the night, but it didn’t play out how we hoped. We fired off for the A Main and when I got on the gas I think we damaged the driveline so we were unable to start the race.”

The weekend began on Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., where Williamson timed in seventh quickest in his group. A fourth-place run in a heat race locked Williamson into the 14th starting spot in the main event. Unfortunately, a problem with the wing slider forced Williamson into the work area before the start of the feature. He returned to the track and started the race last.

“We were good and got up to 14th or 15th, but I hit the grease and lost a spot or two,” he said. “We were fast and passed cars. When you’re that far back and with how fast the track was it’s hard to do a lot so we were happy with the progress.”

Williamson’s run from 24th to 16th gave him his second-best result with the World of Outlaws this season.

“It was nice to know we have the speed and can race with those guys,” he said. “We have a good motor. We’re getting more laps. We’re putting the pieces together and want to keep moving forward.”
