Inside Line Promotions – SAPULPA, Okla. (May 9, 2020) – Frank Flud, Johnny Boland and Garrett Benson captured Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division feature victories on Saturday evening at Creek County Speedway, which hosted the finale of the TUHB, Quality Threads Small-Town Showdown.

Flud and Benson added to their division-leading win total in the Stock Non-Wing and Restricted ‘A’ Class divisions, respectively, while Boland recorded his first career Winged ‘A’ Class triumph with the series thanks to a last-lap pass to close out the Terry Mattox Promotions’ event.

Flud powered from sixth to score his fourth Stock Non-Wing win of the season during series competition. Daniel Shaffer placed second with Boland third, Brenham Crouch fourth and Bradley Fezard fifth.

Flud, Dean Drake Jr., Gunner Bowden, Crouch, Harley Hollan and Shaffer were victorious during heat race action, which featured 46 drivers. Colby Sokol and Mason Daugherty each won a B Main.

Perhaps the most exciting moment of the night came during the last lap of the final race as Boland edged Flud by less than one tenth of a second to capture the Winged ‘A’ Class main event. Traffic created a photo finish as Flud, who led most of the feature, dropped to the bottom lane in turns three and four while Boland railed the top groove as the duo split a lapped car. Boland’s momentum off turn four propelled him to the finish line first by mere inches.

Fezard finish third with Crouch fourth and Daugherty fifth.

A total of 47 drivers tackled heat races with Noah Key, Gage Laney, Hollan, Daugherty, Riley Goodno and Boland coming out on top. Jade Avedisian and Ryan Timms picked up B Main triumphs.

Benson took sole possession of the lead in the Restricted ‘A’ Class championship standings after producing his fifth series victory of the season. Avedisian, who ranks second in the championship standings, earned a runner-up result with Friday’s winner Ryder Laplante rounding out the podium. Ethan Ayars was fourth and Justis Sokol advanced from 11th to fifth.

Joshua Gentry, Ayars, Benson and Laplante were the heat race winners out of a field of 31 competitors. Conner Thomas claimed the B Main win.

The Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division will take next weekend off before resuming competition May 22-23 at KC Raceway in Independence, Mo., and May 24 at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan.
