Riley Hickman Sees Busy Memorial Day Weekend Stretch

Riley Hickman entered a busy Memorial Day weekend stetch that began on Friday night at Boyd's Speedway (Riggold, Georgia). The Old Man's Garage (OMG) Spring Nationals tour returned for the oval, and a series record fifty-three Super Late Models were registered for battle. Unfortunately, Hickman's night came to an end before it even got started after suffering mechanical issues during time trials and scratching from the balance of the program. The team looked for redemption on Saturday night at the Southern All Star (SAS) Racing Series took them to Tennessee National Raceway (Hohenwald, Tennessee) for a $4,000-to-win event. Riley earned a starting spot in the finale via preliminary action and ran as high as second at times during the course of the event. Hickman eventually settled into a third place finish behind race winner, Todd Morrow, and Dane Dacus.

Riley continues to lead the latest SAS Racing Series standings. Full results from the event and the latest series' standings are available at www.SASDirt.com

The weekend drew to a close on Sunday evening at Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tennessee). A $5,000-to-win event was contested as part of the newly formed Southern Nationals Series Bonus Races, and thirty-four Super Late Models registered for the event. With the top eight qualifiers locking into the main event Riley fail just short of the mark, but winning his heat race would earn him the tenth starting spot on the grid. During the course of the 50 lap feature Hickman advanced six spots to a fourth place finish behind race winner, Mike Marlar, Terry English, and Josh Putnam.
