Ricky Weiss banks $20,059 Butterball Memorial at Richmond

Weekend action found Ricky Weiss claiming the $20,059 victory in the 35th annual Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial at Kentucky’s Richmond Raceway. (Jimmy Pittman image)

The win was his fourth of the year in his Drydene Performance Products No. 7 J&C Properties / G-Style Transport/ Sniper Chassis / Vic Hill Racing Engine Super Late Model in victory lane.

The Canadian racer was able to capitalize late in the race, when leader Josh Rice slipped high.

"It was tough," Weiss said in Victory Lane. "I said, you know, 30 (laps), 20, 10 to go, I mean, you can't beat (Rice) up top. I don't know if he used up his right-rear (tire). I started rolling the middle there and I knew if I could hit the bottom in (turns) one and two, we could say with them. I don't think we we're any better. But all I had to do is show my door a little bit. He got me back. I missed my line a little bit and I thought I gave it away. Then he missed his a little worse."

“I was just pumped for my guys, pumped for everybody that works on this thing. We got this thing rolling and finally we got a big one this year again. Hopefully we can keep it rolling.

Friday night found Ricky Weiss in action at Richmond (Ky.) Raceway aboard his Keewatin Truck Service No. 7 Super Late Model for the 35th annual Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial.

With 33 Ultimate Heart of America Series entries on the grounds for the two-day event, Weiss secured his spot into Saturday’s A-Main with the second-fastest lap in his time trial group.

Capitalizing on a late opportunity in the feature after the leader tagged the wall, Ricky raced to the lead and eventually his fourth win of the season in the 60-lapper, which came ahead of Zack Dohm, Victor Lee, Trevor Landrum, and Josh Rice.

He earned $20,059 for the winning performance.
