Berryhill & Morris Motorsports Enjoy Successful Chili Bowl Midget Nationals

(Tulsa, OK) - Travis Berryhill and Morris Racing teamed-up to take on the 34th annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, last week, looking to build on both team and driver past success, to put together a strong 2020 showing. The 2017 Chili Bowl Qualifying Night winner had a simple goal in mind heading into this year's edition of the event, get stronger as the week progressed and make all those around him that made this possible, proud of his performance.

Chili Bowl week for Berryhill and Morris got started on Monday, alongside over 350 other entries, during open practice sessions. The team found their grove, as best they could on the ever-changing track, leading them into Thursday's John Christner Trucking Qualifying Night. As their preliminary evening got underway, Travis took an 8th-place heat starting position and turned it into a top-five result. Their 5th-place run gave TBR and Morris Racing the outside fourth-row slot for the night's third of four Qualifiers, where Berryhill drove his way to 6th, missing out on an automatic bid to the main event, but placing his team nicely for the upcoming B-Main.

As feature events saw the green flag, Berryhill held on to a transfer position, leading the team into the main event, starting in the 24th-spot, with 30-laps ahead to improve their Saturday Alphabet Soup placing as much as possible. During the main event, Travis was elbows-up, grabbing a number of positions and missing out on any bad luck, to come home in 19th, placing the Indianapolis resident in a D-Main. With an 11th-place starting position in D-Main #2, Berryhill had to pick his way through the field in a hurry and that he did, driving from his inside sixth-row launch position to a 4th-place finish and a spot in C-Main #2. Unfortunately the teams bid for a Golden Driller came to an end during the C-Main, where Berryhill drove from very deep in the field to a mid-pack position, needing a few more timely cautions and better luck to transfer on.

"I owe my 2020 Chili Bowl success and us placing in the top 20% of the field, against the best in all of American Auto Racing, to the Morris Racing team," said Berryhill. "My crew, Ray Seach and Todd Hobson were incredible. While the C-Main doesn't sound amazing, it was still one awesome accomplishment. I have never driven this car or for this team and we showed the world we belonged, without a doubt. Passing a total of 22 cars highlights that. I just can't think everyone who was involved with the effort enough for their support, and we'll see everyone in 2021!"

Travis would like to send a special thanks to his loyal event partners, the Morris Racing team and all his friends, as well as family, who came all the way to Tulsa to take in the week with him. We would also send a thank you to all the fans who were in attendance, or watched on RacinBoys or MAVTV.
