Goldsberry Gets First SIS Win

Stuart, IA (July 22) – After a week off due to extreme heat the fans and drivers of Stuart Speedway were treated to a perfect evening of weather and racing on a Monday! Mitchell Bunch, Brayton Carter, John Watson, Mike Goldsberry and Josh Gilman were the winners at the IMCATV Monday Night Spotlight sponsored by Ag Hub Midwest, Finish Line Body and Paint and Ganoe Excavating.
First up was the IMCA Sport Compacts with Tyler Fiebelkorn and John Gill on the front row. Fiebelkorn led the first two laps with Colton Garside coming through to lead the next two. Jamie Reeves was the next to the top spot for three laps with Logan Richards powering by on the bottom side to lead fourteenth starting Jacob Houston and Reeves until a caution flew on lap fourteen. Houston shot into the lead on the restart, but it was Mitchell Bunch using momentum to his advantage and muscling the lead away on the last lap to take the win. Houston finished second with Richards third, Reeves fourth and Fiebelkorn fifth. Bunch, Nathan Castellano and Fiebelkorn were the heat race winners.
IMCA Northern SportMods came out next with Cody Werner and Carter Vandenberg leading the field to green. Garrett Nelson led Vandenberg and Brayton Carter over the first two laps with Carter moving into the lead just before a caution flew on lap three. Another quick yellow on lap four bunched the field up, but Carter gapped the field until another yellow came out on lap fourteen. One more caution on lap fifteen gave the rest of the drivers a chance, but when the green flew it was Carter rocketing away to take the easy win. Josh Sink took second with Vandenberg third, Hunter Longnecker fourth and Dusty Masolini fifth. Colton Nelson, Masolini, Chase Rudolf and David Schwartz were the heat race winners.
Eric Knutson and Tanner Dixon brought the IMCA Hobby Stocks to life next with Dixon leading Greg Gilbert and Chuck Madden Jr for the first two laps. Gilbert took over through lap five until Madden Jr powered into the lead. John Watson used the bottom of the track to get himself past Madden Jr on lap eight and stayed there until a lap twelve caution slowed the cars. Once the field came back to life the battle was on for second as Watson drove off to the win. Madden Jr took second with Brandon Cox third, Knutson fourth and Miciah Hidlebaugh fifth. Watson and Madden Jr were the heat race winners. Cox also took home the Pole Position Challenge win to bag a $270 voucher to Pole Position Raceway.
IMCA Stock Cars were up next with Chad Legere and Bryan Snell on the front row. Snell led early with Robert Stofer and Legere close behind. A rash of cautions began on lap six, but through the attrition it was Mike Goldsberry taking over the lead on lap ten. The last yellow came out on lap fourteen, and it was the last thing slowing Goldsberry as he would go on to take his first ever win at Stuart Speedway. Stofer finished second with Josh Daniels third, Brandon Pruitt fourth and Snell fifth. Pruitt and Stofer were the heat race winners.
Last up was the IMCA Modifieds with Zack Rawlins and Tony Hilgenberg on the front row. Rawlins led the first two laps until Josh Gilman came calling on lap three. John Oliver Jr and Joel Bushore put on a high-low battle for second, but it was all Gilman on this night as he cruised to the win. Oliver Jr finished second with Bushore third, Nick Roberts fourth and Ethan Dotson fifth. Roberts and Dotson were the heat race winners.
We’d like to thank all who came out to support the race track at our twelfth event of the year. This Friday we’ll have our second Fun Friday with the Zipps Pizzeria Hicklin Powersports Challenge. Next Wednesday the big cars return for Pole Position Des Moines, Kinzie Tire, & Coca-Cola weekly racing. This will be the last regular season night before season championships on August 7th. See you then!
