Thompson races to 3rd-place result in Charlie Clark Memorial
On Saturday, Jefferson, South Dakota’s Park Jefferson Speedway was the latest stop on Cody Thompson’s racing schedule. He left his home track with a podium finish in a 37-car IMCA Modified field.
Thompson began the night's Charlie Clark Memorial at the quarter-mile speed plant by steering his Premier Industries No. 25c Modified from sixth to first in his heat race.
He redrew the eighth starting spot for the 44-lap, $5,522-to-win feature and grabbed the top spot on the 18th circuit. He led until lap 33 on the ever-changing track and ultimately finished third behind Brandon Beckendorf and Tripp Gaylord. Zack VanderBeek and Izac Mallicoat completed the top five.
