Rodney Sanders marches to fourth-place finish in King of America finale
Rodney Sanders followed the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) to Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kan.) on Thursday evening to kick off the King of America XII presented by Shocker Hitch.
In a stout field of 63 cars, Sanders raced his way into the opener via a second-place finish in his B-Main after finishing third in his heat. With $3,000 on the line in the feature, Rodney gained five positions to finish 11th.
After Friday’s event fell to wet weather, Rodney missed a transfer spot in his heat race and consolation event on Saturday, forcing him to use a provisional into the $12,000-to-win King of America XII finale. Advancing his way into the top-five, Sanders passed 26 cars in the 60-lap affair to register an impressive fourth-place finish. He trailed Dan Ebert, Terry Phillips, and Cayden Carter across the line with Zack VanderBeek coming in fifth.
