Rodney Sanders attends Duel in the Desert at Las Vegas Dirt Track

Rodney Sanders invaded Las Vegas Dirt Track (Las Vegas, Nev.) on Thursday afternoon to pull double duty in the Late Model and Modified ranks for the 25th annual Duel in the Desert.

In a field of 42 XR Super Series entries for the three-day event, Sanders followed up a fourth-place finish in his heat with an 11th-place run in the 40-lap feature. In his Modified, Rodney raced his way into the preliminary feature via his B-Main and went onto place 14th.

For another $20,000-to-win Late Model program on Friday, Sanders retired on the sixth circuit of the feature but rebounded with a Top-10 run in his Modified. He came in third in his B-Main before going from 22nd-to-9th in the main event.

With a third-place finish in his Late Model heat on Saturday placing him on the sixth row for the $40,000-to-win Duel in the Desert finale, Rodney dropped four spots in the 50-lapper to finish 16th. Starting the $5,000-to-win Modified feature in 12th via a consolation win, Sanders passed four cars to register an eighth-place finish.
