Pifer Finishes Fifth at Thunder Mountain

KNOX DALE, Pa. – Taking the best finish of his career last Friday at Thunder Mountain Speedway (fourth), Darren Pifer would take another crack at the three-eighth-mile track in search of his first win. Though it wouldn’t come yet, Pifer still came away with his third consecutive top-five.
With just eight 305 sprints in the pits at the Knox Dale, Pa. track, there would be only one heat race. Pifer started that race from the pole position, and fell to third before the checkered flew. On the feature grid, Pifer and his No. 23 J&J went from the fifth spot. With a car that lacked strong forward drive coming off the corners, he would be powerless to make any passes. He navigated his machine home to a fifth-place finish.
Planning for Mercer Raceway Park on Saturday night, Pifer would be forced to wait a week to improve on his finish, as the events were cancelled due to impending weather.
Pifer would like to thank Niagara Cutter, Seco Tools, Jeane Pifer Photography, Good’s Auto Body, and Betram Motorsports, as well as his family and fans for their continued support.
Pifer is next scheduled to compete on June 5 at Thunder Mountain Raceway in Knox Dale, Pa. and on June 6 at Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pa. in the No. 23 305ci Sprint entry.
