Cottage Grove Speedway was able to beat out the weather and have the entire racing program completed on Saturday May 16th for Community Sharing Night. A very good car count was on hand in the pit area and some really exciting racing would be put on display for the crowd. Classes in competition included the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, Street Stocks, and Quality RV Repair Hornets.

In the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints Sutherlin's Cooper Desbiens was fast right off the bat. The teenager, driving his J.H. Desbiens Construction/BC Motorsports/Budget Lumber #4D XXX, would lead the first couple of laps before being passed by Orion Redmond, of Roseburg, on lap three. Redmond, piloting the Redmond Trucking/Umpqua Sand & Gravel/Double R Powdercoating #12 J&J, cruised right along for quite some time but before too long would receive some pressure.

That pressure would come from Cottage Grove native Colby Carter. Carter eventually would overtake Redmond on lap fourteen. The two would stay close to one another in traffic but Carter would hold onto the lead the rest of the way to put his Huddle Automotive Repair/Royal Flush Environmental Services/Oregon West RV/Hedge Carter Gutter Service #71 XXX in Huddle Automotive Repair victory lane.

Orion Redmond would hold onto second over Cooper Desbiens. Cottage Grove's Danny Horner would finish fourth in his Horner's Inc./Steelhouse Metal Roofing Supply/BC Motorsports/Crump Logging #75H Maxim while the Clark Printing/Todd's Auto Body/BC Motorsports/Team 85 #85 Rocket of Ricky Ashley, out of Thurston, was fifth.

Colby Carter was the Jim's Tire Factory Fast Award winner and the C&H Motorsports/Dave's Carpet & Vinly Liquidators/Tangible Real Estate Investments #3 Zeitler of Medford's Dave Hibbard was the winner of the Dot's Trophy Shop Trophy Dash. Heat race winners were Ricky Ashley and Danny Horner.

The IMCA Modified main event would be a thriller. Only a couple of incidents would take place making the race pretty much stoppage free. Jake Mayden, of Springfield, would set a wicked pace for most of the race in his Embers Bar & Grill/Springfield Tire Factory/Chuck Bracelin Trucking/Clint Willis Racing Engines #5M Dirt Works. It looked like Mayden was going to pick up the victory but Kinzer Cox would work his way through the field and take over the desired position on lap twenty-one. Cox, of Cottage Grove, would pull away from the rest of the field and make his second straight visit to Huddle Automotive Repair victory lane in his Robert Howell Logging/Hard Knocks Brewing/Scoggins Creek Coffee/Salisbury Farms #1K Loose Gruff.

Creswell's Gus Cooper finished second in the Eastside Rollforming Specialties/Raceprint.com #10 Pro while Jake Mayden ended the evening in third. The rest of the top five would consist of Braedon Hand, of Cottage Grove and driving the Todd's Auto Body/D&D Automotive/KNND 1400 AM/Vintage Inn Family Restaurant #5 Shaw by S.D.M.F., in fourth and the Superior Fuel Cells/IBEW Local 280/Valley Rose Construction/West End Performance #24 X-Factor of Curtis Towns, also of Cottage Grove, in fifth.

It would be a clean sweep for Cox as he was the Jim's Tire Factory Fast Time Award winner, victor of the Dot's Trophy Shop Trophy Dash, and won his heat race. The other heat race was won by the Dog House Racing/Payroll Specialties Inc./Hoppes Construction/ABC Powdercoating #1M Impressive of Jacksonville's Mark Wauge.

The IMCA Sport Mod feature witnessed Jayson Nelson turn some heads in the first half of the race. The Springfield native would put his Quality RV Repair/Pro Auto Works/Springfield Tire Factory #51N BMS in front and actually for some time set a quick pace in only his second Modified start of his career. Jasper's Gene Ashley would eventually catch Nelson and pass him on lap seven. Ashley would lead the remainder of the laps and put the Ashley Family Racing/A-1 Auto Supply/Furniture Options #85 entry in Huddle Automotive Repair victory lane for the second time this season.

The Steelhouse Metal Roofing Supply/Quality RV Repair/Devine Continuous Gutters/Bonnichson Auto Repair #38 machine of Jimmy Owen, out of Cottage Grove, was the runner-up and Jayson Nelson finished third. The Akin Racing #54 Monster of Crow's Scott Akin was fourth and the Trissell Floor Covering #51 of Marcola chauffeur Roy Kirk Jr. got fifth.

It would be a clean sweep of the evening's events for Gene Ashley as he was the Jim's Tire Factory Fast Time Award winner as well as victorious in both the Dot's Trophy Shop Trophy Dash and the heat race.

Eugene's Chris Sine showed his dominance once again in the Street Stock ranks. Taking the lead on the opening start the Pro Auto Racing/Pure Romance by April/Murphy Plywood/Stipe Engine Specialties #24 Camaro, of Sine, would dominant the competition. Out in front by over half a lap Sine would cruise to his third straight trip to the Huddle Automotive Repair victory lane.

The D&L Truck Parts/Robert Howell Logging/Todd's Auto Body/Clark Printing #85 Nova of Cottage Grove teenager Evan Britton in second while Steve Begely from Eugene was third in the Crooks Racing #00 Nova. Picking up a clean sweep, Sine, was the Jim's Tire Factory Fast Time Award winner and was triumphant in the Dot's Trophy Shop Trophy Dash and the heat race.

Last but not least the Quality RV Repair Hornets would be out in full force. Marcel Forte from Junction City would be the early race leader. Forte, in his Junction City Muffler Shop/Guaranty Chevrolet/Twisted Bit Arena/Forte Motorsports #23F Nissan Centra, led for most of the race but would start to receive some challengers in the later stages. Veneta's Joe Maricle would seize the lead on lap sixteen and kept his Royal Refuse Service #11 Toyota Celica in front of the field to pick up the win. It would mark the second time of the season that he has put his hot rod in Huddle Automotive Repair victory lane.

Josh Corley of Westfir was second in the Burnett Builders #7C Nissan 200SX followed by the Kiwi Fab/Tomlin's Auto & Tire/Trackside Auto Repair/Edge Construction Supply #7 Volvo Wagon of Eugene's Andrew Mathers in third. Crossing the wire in fourth was Chris Pierce from Cottage Grove in the Quality RV Repair/AP Media/Froggy's Towing #28 Acura Integra and Marcel Forte was fifth.

Josh Corley was the Jim's Tire Factory Fast Time Award winner and won the Dot's Trophy Shop Trophy Dash. Heat race wins were picked up by the Randy Kuhl owned More of Everything Racing Collectibles/DT Machine & Fab/Bigg Dogg Recycling/Rapid Delivery Service #17 Toyota Tacoma, driven by Dexter's Taunton Swaim, and Justin Austin of Pleasant Hill in the Mike Swaim owned Rapid Delivery Service/Bigg Dogg Recycling/DT Machine & Fab/Big B Tire #22A Toyota Tacoma.
