2009 Season Recap for Devin Kline
Sophomore Outlaw Dirt Kart driver, Devin Kline, out of Knoxville, IA started out the 2009 season the way every racer wants to with 3 podium finishes out of the first four races. It was all English Creek Speedway for the 21 year old, as he capped off the season with a 4th Place finish in the Season Championship.
“We had a pretty decent season, explains Devin. “I would have liked to finish a little better throughout the last half of the year, but we were really got nailed with the mid-season slump. We had a great run at the Nationals, (English Creek Speedway Nationals; August 12th-14th) but after I came from the back on the Preliminary night and was sitting fifth, my car just got to tight and set us back to seventh.”
Devin traveled out to Montana for a big Outlaw Kart Race and was struck once again with some bad sophomore luck. In his first heat, the plug got fouled and in the second heat the tire broke loose from the wheel which put Kline in the back of the “C” Main. He put his elbows up and drove through the field to transfer into the “B” and then while he was sitting in a Main Event transfer spot, he spun ending his trip.
“We had a lot of fun out there,” says Kline, “It just would have been nice to make an impression in that Main Event!”
Overall, young Kline had a very respectable season with a 4th in the Championship along with the Hard Charger Award of the Speedway. With these two first seasons under his belt, Devin feels more confident than ever going into 2010.
