HIGHLAND, Ill. – Off to a fantastic start to his 2016 campaign, Cottage Hills, Ill. native Chad Elliott has now taken top-five finishes in each of his first three events this season. Two podium finishes came over the past weekend; a third-place showing on Friday night at Belle-Clair Speedway came before taking the runner-up spot on Saturday at Highland Speedway.

A strong car count of 33 arrived to compete in the Belleville, Ill. facility’s micro sprint division. Elliott started the night with a poor pill draw for heat lineup, but nevertheless navigated to a second-place run in the second of four heats.

In the main event, Elliott started from the outside of row three. Elliott was on the move early on, navigating up one spot on the start. Soon, the Hammer & Steel No. 65E was knocking on the door for a show position, and earned it ahead of the checkered flag to finish in third.

At Highland the next night, the field was smaller, but Elliott again brought his “A” game. With 17 micros in the pit area, Elliott was slated to start heat one from the pole. The 19-year-old used this position to take the win in that preliminary contest.

With a redraw for the feature lineup, Elliott would roll off in fifth. It didn’t take long for him to direct his Sawyer Chassis into the lead. Holding the top spot for much of the event, the previous week’s winner Kurt Westerfield was soon reeling him in working the high side, while Elliott used the bottom of the quarter-mile. “I didn’t have the gear to go up there [to the outside line],” Elliott would later admit after the race. The pair would do battle as the flagman signaled that five laps remained. Westerfield ultimately took the spot away in the waning laps and went on to earn the win, leaving Elliott to take the second spot.

Elliott would like to thank Hammer & Steel, Berry Performance, JRE Performance, Phantom Racing Gear, and Competition Suspension Inc, as well as his family and all of his fans for their continued support.

Elliott is scheduled to be off this weekend, but is next scheduled to compete on April 15 at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, Ill. with the POWRi Outlaw Micro Series.
