Hill Notches 17th-Place Result During Debut at Riverside International Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (July 14, 2020) – Alex Hill posted a top-20 finish last Saturday during her first competition at Riverside International Speedway.

“We did okay for our first time there,” said Hill, who battled a 37-car field to finish 17th in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour A Main. “The track was really sloppy in hot laps and that made it difficult to get a feel for it since I had never raced there before. Looking back, I think that kept me from being more aggressive later in the night when the track got better.”

Hill was able to pick up a pair of positions in her heat race after starting sixth. That gave her enough points to qualify for the A Main.

“Our heat race went well,” she said. “I passed a car for fifth and then was able to get by another one coming out of the final turn to finish fourth and qualify for the A Main.”

Hill rolled off in the 15th starting spot for the night’s main event.

“I had a good car, but I made a few mistakes,” she said. “I ran the bottom when I should’ve been running higher and that cost us a better finishing spot.”

She was credited with a 17th-place outing.

Up next for Hill will be another ASCS National Tour race on Friday at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., followed by a trip to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday. Her next racing week will begin early with a visit to Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, on Tuesday, July 21.

“With the ASCS western swing being canceled we’re going to work out of Wade Huisman’s shop at Keizer Wheels in Iowa for a while,” she said. “We’re planning to race at Knoxville the next two weeks to get more seat time for the 360 Nationals. We’re also planning to race at some area tracks around there.”
