Rain Thwarts Promising Night at Ohsweken Speedway for Hill

Inside Line Promotions – OHSWEKEN, Ontario, Canada (July 24, 2018) – Rain brought a halt to a promising night of racing for Alex Hill last Friday at Ohsweken Speedway, where she was scheduled to start outside the front row in the $3,333-to-win feature before heavy rain following the heat races ended the evening’s program.

“It was disappointing,” she said. “The rain kind of surprised us. It wasn’t expected until the day of the race. But we’re glad it was rescheduled for September when we’ll be back here again.”

The Patriot Sprint Tour race was postponed to Sept. 14, which is the night before the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.

Hill qualified for the front row starting spot of the night’s main event after charging from sixth to second place in her heat race.

“The heat race went really well,” she said. “I was able to move up to second in the first couple of laps. I got close to the leader and almost got around him a couple of times, but my motor stumbled a bit and I wasn’t able to pass him. But I had a really fast car otherwise.”

Hill is enjoying her brief time at home after being on the road for nearly six weeks. She’ll be back on the road again on Thursday.

“It was great to be home and race on my home track,” she said. “I’ve really enjoyed being home and hanging out with family after being on the road for so long.”

Hill will compete at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday before the next Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com event at Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa, on Sunday.

“I’m always excited to go to Knoxville and race there,” she said. “I’m glad we’ll get another chance to work on the car’s setup this week before the 360 Nationals because we had trouble finding balance with it when we were there a couple of weeks ago. We plan to stay in Knoxville for about the next three weeks.”
