Michael Fanelli shatters track record at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock
Michael Fanelli Motorsports traveled to Lubbock, Tx and Amarillo, Tx on July 26 and 27 to run with the ASCS Elite series. During qualifying in Lubbock Michael broke the track record by 2/10's and out qualified the 2nd fastest qualifier by 4/10's. The track announcer said Michael was in a different time zone. The blue duece was dialed in. In Michael's heat race he started 4th and quickly moved to the number one position and never looked back. In the main Michael started on the pole and fell back to the 2nd position. He took the lead on lap 4 and lead the next 12 laps and extended to a big lead. Michael got held up by lap cars and then made a move to the bottom of the race track that got blocked and he fell back to the 3rd position. On the last lap he made the wrong lane choice once again with a lapped car and fell back to 4th position overall. Michael was disappointed with the outcome in the main but the team overall was pleased with the way the car performed.
