HORSTMAN DOUBLES UP ON NIGHT 2

Lake City, MI –Jared Horstman (Cloverdale, OH) slides his way past Matt Foos (Fremont, OH) in lap 17 and wins the feature at Merritt Speedway on Night 2 of the Triple Header Weekend. Making it his 8th feature win of the season and the second in a row this weekend.
On a beautiful northern Michigan evening, 21 cars were registered for Night 2 of the Triple Header Weekend at Merritt Speedway! The NCRA Great Lakes Super Sprints rolled out for qualifying to get the night started. Devon Dobie (Wapakoneta, OH) turned in the fast time of the evening of 13.265 or 105 mph. Horstman, Foos, Kelsey Ivy (Fremont, OH) and Joe Geibe (Sturgis, MI) rounded out the top 5.
Chase Ridenour (Perry, MI) and Brad Lamberson (Parma, MI) went 1 and 2 in the first heat race, with Dobie, Kyle Poortenga (Woodland, MI) and Ivy rounded out the top 5. In heat 2, Horstman wins and Dustin Daggett (Portland, MI), John Schulz (B, IA), Mike Astrauskas (Pierson, MI) and Geibe finished out the top five. In the final heat, Kyle Sauder (Archbold, OH) won over Foos, Andrew Scheid (Kent City, MI), Chris Pobanz (Sebawing, MI) and Darren Orth (Jacksonville, FL) who went 2-5.
Pulling out on the track for the feature were all 21 cars present. Foos and Horstman led the field around the track with Sauder, Daggett, Lamberson and Ridenour filling out the redraw positions. As the cars get the green flag and charge down the front stretch and into turn one, several cars tried to go in low and Dobie ended up on his side bringing out the Red Flag. Dobie was righted and moved to the hot pit designated area.
With the help of several of competing crew members, the 23 car of Dobie was able to make it back on the track as they fired the rest of the field. In a complete restart, Foos brought the field around once again. This time we had a clean start and Foos holds on to the lead. With a few cautions and the track challenging the drivers, Foos was able to hold off Horstman for 16 laps.
In Lap 17, Horstman got the opening he needed and gets by Foos for the lead. Horstman took advantage of the clean air out front and gave himself some separation from the field. Foos on the other hand, had Sauder, Dobie, Daggett and Schulz pushing him for second place. With a couple more cautions at lap 15 and 19, Horstman was able to seal the deal with his 8th victory of the season and his second of the Triple Header Weekend.
The official hard charger for the night was Ralph “Tank” Brakenberry in the 3T who started 19th and moved up 6 spots to finish in 13th. Unofficial hard charger, Dobie moved up 17 spots for a 4th place finish. With Dobie on his side at the start of the race, there was a complete restart and Dobie was sent to the tail.
