Tom Berry Jr.
Modified Podium Performance at Clay County for Berry
Tom Berry Jr. returned to his throttle-mashing ways on Wednesday night at Clay County Fair Speedway (Spencer, Iowa), where he pulled double duty in the IMCA Modifieds by KICD and the IMCA Stock Cars presented by Mr. B's Flooring.
The Salute to Veterans night drew a field of 30 Modifieds for the $3,500-to-win program, and Tom won his heat race from the second-starting spot, which positioned him seventh on the feature grid for the 30-lap feature.
He advanced four positions to a third-place finish behind Brandon Beckendorf and Jake McBirnie with Tim Ward and Jeremy Mills rounding out the Top 5.
Meanwhile, in IMCA Stock Car competition a stout field of 40 racers registered for battle, and a third-place finish in his heat race lined him up 15th for the $2,250-to-win feature.
An early retirement from the feature left Tom 23rd in the final rundown.
