Runner-up finish in Alabama Gang 100 prelim at TST
Even though Saturday’s finale was postponed to September, Brandon Overton was able to return to the driver’s seat of the Wells Motorsports No. 76 Late Model over the weekend for Friday’s Alabama Gang 100 opener at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.).
With the 48-car World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series field divided into two groups for a pair of preliminary features, Overton locked into the third-starting spot for his prelim via the third-fastest qualifying effort in his group. With a $5,000 prize up for grabs, Overton clawed forward one spot in the 25-lap affair to register a second-place finish. He trailed Dylan Knowles across the line with Trey Mills coming in third.
Saturday’s $35,000-to-win Alabama Gang 100 A-Main was postponed to September 15th after a rain shower moved in before the 75-lap feature was set to hit the track.
